Q. I'm seeing 'Sorry, this item is not available online', what next?

You get the 'Sorry, this item is not available online' error message when following a link in a database to 'Check availability at City'.

Answer

What to do next depends on whether the link you followed was to check for a book or a journal article.

Journal articles

If you have not already done so, you can check to see if we have it available in print by searching for the journal title (not the title of the article) using CityLibrary Search.

If we do not have access to it at all, then try Google Scholar to see if it is freely available, if not then you can use our Inter-Library Loan Service, or see if it is available at other libraries.

Books

if you have not already done so, search for the title of the book in CityLibrary Search, this will show you if we have it available in print or online.

If we do not have access to it at all, then try Google Scholar to see if it is freely available, if not then you can use our Inter-Library Loan Service, or see if it is available at other libraries.
