Q. How do I fix the Certificate Security warning when I try to access a database?

When I try to access databases or other online resources I get an “Untrusted Connection” or “There is a problem with this website’s security certificate” error message. How do I stop these messages from appearing?

If you see this message when trying to access a library database or e-book you may need to update the bookmark or link.

You could do this in two ways:

1. Find the correct link to the database, journal or e-book link via CityLibrary Search, the Database A-Z list or the online journal A-Z list

2. remove the 's' from the first part of the link (change https:// to http://). The library authentication software should then redirect you to the database without seeing the error message.

If you see this error after clicking on a link on the library website, please email the our e-access team (e-access@city.ac.uk) with the name of the online resource and the URL of the page containing the link and they will update it.
