Unique researcher identifiers which connect researchers with their contributions. They help distinguish you from other researchers. This short video helps explain ORCID iDs.
How do they work with Elements?
Once associated with your Elements profile, ORCID iDs can be used to automatically add research tagged with your iD to your Elements profile reducing the number of publications you have to manually claim. Your ORCID profile can also be populated with the details of the publications in your Elements profile.
Choose ORCiD, which will take you to the ORCiD sign in page.
Sign into ORCiD if you already have an ID or
Select Register now if you've not signed up yet.
Click Authorize when prompted.
You will be directed back to Elements where you will be able to set up how you want Elements and ORCID to share data. Choose from the available options are:
read from and write publication data to my ORCID account - Information will be synchronised between Elements and your ORCID account - will push ORCID publications to Elements and vice versa.
read data from my ORCID account - only allows Elements to retrieve publication details from ORCID account.
only use my ORCID iD to support automatic claiming - will only automatically claim new publications containing your ORCID. Will not access publications from your ORCID profile.
If you select 'read from and write' you will need to choose which Elements publications will be shared with ORCiD
Choose published and published online journal articles
Sends all publications to ORCiD regardless of privacy level (if it is public or private)
Only ‘favourited’ articles will be shared
Save if changes from the default settings made
Run Sync to populate your ORCiD profile with the publications selected in step 7.
