VLeBooks is an e-book platform with a range of built-in accessibility options and tools. Tools and features include:

  • Having the text read aloud.
  • Changing background colour.
  • Making annotations.
  • Creating bookmarks.

Guidance can be found in the VLeBooks Accessibility Guidance.

The VLeBooks reader platform

Open a book in the VLeBooks online reader. In the horizontal tool bar above the page viewer you will find a collection of tools. The image of the toolbar below shows, from left to right, magnification, background colour and Read Aloud.

Bookmark pages

You can bookmark any pages of interest so you can find them again easily. Select the 'bookmark' icon in the top-right of the page. The bookmark icon will be active once selected.

Highlight and annotate text

Use the pointer to select text on the page. The highlighter and annotation box will appear. You can choose a colour to highlight the text (you can allocate different colours to different themes you identify).

You can also add a note. Select the note icon which will open up the note editor. You can also format the text and add links.

To retrieve your highlights and annotations, select the annotations button in the vertical tool bar to review your bookmarks, annotations and highlights.
