VLeBooks is an e-book platform with various built-in accessibility options and tools. These include:

  • text-to-speech functionality
  • background colour customisation
  • annotation
  • bookmark creation

For full guidance, please refer to the VLeBooks Accessibility Guidance.

Read Aloud

Open a book in the VLeBooks online reader. In the horizontal tool bar above the page viewer you will find a collection of tools. The image of the toolbar below shows, from left to right, magnification, background colour and Read Aloud.

The Read Aloud tool allows you to listen to the text on the page. The image below shows the pop-out reader dialogue, where you can adjust settings and control the reader. To have the reader automatically read each page, check the Autoread box.

The more... (three dot menu icon) in the player allows you to save the audio from the current page to your device in MP3 format.
