VLeBooks is an e-book platform with a range of built-in accessibility options and tools. Tools and features include:

  • Having the text read aloud.
  • Changing background colour.
  • Making annotations.
  • Creating bookmarks.

Full guidance can be found in the VLeBooks Accessibility Guidance.

The VLeBooks reader platform

Open a book in the VLeBooks online reader. In the horizontal tool bar above the page viewer you will find a collection of tools. The image of the toolbar below shows, from left to right, magnification, background colour and Read Aloud.

Read Aloud

The Read Aloud tool can be used to listen back to the text on the page. The image below shows the pop-out reader. You can adjust the settings and control the reader from here. You can check the autoread box to have the reader automatically read aloud each page.

The more... (three dot menu icon) in the player allows you to save the audio from the current page to your device in MP3 format.
